Meher Niger

Meher Niger is Project Assistant in International Maize and Wheat Improvement Center (CIMMYT) Dhaka Office in Bangladesh funded by USAID Bangladesh. She has obtained her Bachelor of Law degree from the BRAC University and Masters of Law from the Southeast University in Bangladesh. She worked as Women’s Empowerment Coordinator in Ethical Trading Initiative (ETI) Funded by The UK Department for International Development (DFID) and worked as Bangladesh AIBS Manager in American Institute of Bangladesh Studies (AIBS) funded by Wisconsin University Madison, USA. She worked as an Advocacy Officer and Advocacy outreach Officer of the SHOKHI Project, a Project on Women’s Health, Rights, and Choices which is funded by the Embassy of the Kingdom of Netherlands and Women In Justice Project which is Funded by USAID in Bangladesh Legal Aid and Services Trust (BLAST) in Dhaka. She worked as a Project Manager and Human Rights Officer of the National Grassroots Disabled Organization (NGDO) in Dhaka, Bangladesh which is funded by Disability Rights Fund (DRF).
Ms. Meher also served as a Junior Lawyer for Advocate Anwarul Kabir and Associates in Dhaka District Court and completed her Legal Internship with Barrister Naser Alam and Associates, MNA Chamber, Dhaka, Bangladesh. She participated in many national workshops on dispute resolution, mediation and arbitration, gender and disability, and child protection policy development. She had done volunteer work in Galle, Sri Lanka for Physically and Mentally Disabled Children Project by RCDP International Volunteer in July 2012, Volunteer on Disable Children by Association of Intellectual Disabled Center in Nepal, Kathmandu in December 2012. She participated in International Legal Training and Workshop by ALSA in Manila, the Philippines in July 2015. Furthermore, she attended the 5th Conference of State Parties to the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities in September 2012 at the United Nation HQ in New York, USA; Women’s Leadership and Empowerment Conference in Thailand in March 2015; a Conference of Youth: Climate Change in Paris in 2015. She attended in International Conference in Transparency & Accountability in Justice Administration System: Solutions and Challenges, National Law University, Delhi, India in September 2016; Bangladesh Studies (AIBS) and the Subir and Malini Chowdhury Center for Bangladesh Studies at UC Berkeley, from MDGs to SDGs: Chowdhury at the 45th Annual Conference on South Asia in Wisconsin-‐ Madison, on October 2016.
She attended the 5th International Conference on Business, Economics, Social Sciences and Humanities, in December 2016 in Cairo, Egypt, and the 6th International Conference on Human Rights, in March 2017 in Melbourne, Australia. She also attended Summit in London on Young Diplomats Forum on July 2107 by Global Diplomatic Forum, 13th Conference of Youth (COY13) by Climate Change in Bonn, Germany in November 2017, International Conference on Law and Political Science (ICLPS) in Vietnam on March 2018, AYLS, African Youth Leadership Summit in Marrakesh Morocco on December 2018. Meher Niger is a Member of Commonwealth Youth Gender Equality Network (CYGEN Network), Member of SDG Youth Forum in Bangladesh, Member of Academic Nusa International for Association of Social Sciences and Humanities, Associate Member of Dhaka Club Ltd, and Executive Member of BRAC University Law Club. She has done anchoring Disability talk show on Desh Tv and she is also a classical singer.
