COVID-19 Emergency Crisis Fund Distribution Day 8, 18th May
Months long coronavirus lockdown is inflicting havoc on Bangladesh, where more than 30% of the total population live below the poverty line. This unexpected lockdown has stung millions all over the country, leaving many poverty-stricken hungry and forcing migrant labourers to flee cities and walk hundreds of kilometres to their villages. Rickshaw pullers, itinerants produce peddlers, maids, factory workers and labourers from all sectors have started starving. Unfortunately, there is very low hope of getting everything back to normal anytime soon. In such a situation, It’s Humanity Foundation comes forward to support lower-middle class families of marginalised communities with basic food supply.
To keep the promise of always standing by the side of people in every time they are in need, on May 18 th , 2020, team IHF has distributed Gift packets consisting basic food items among 500 families in Saidpur with the kind contribution of Mutual Trust Bank Limited. On the distribution ceremony, Ms. Rabeya Alim MP of Saidpur as an honourable guest was presented. Besides, other respected guests like- TNO of Saidpur, Education Officer, Ward Commissioners of Saidpur and few other social workers attended the distribution. IHF has prepared and distributed relief packets containing one month’s food for another 400 families in Thakurgaon and Panchagarh on 19 th and 20 th May 2020.
It’s Humanity Foundation would like to give heartiest gratitude to Mutual Trust Bank Limited for their confidence and financial contribution which made IHF capable of supporting these 900 needy families at least with food for one month in this time of national crisis. With the concern about safety of carrying the relief packets, IHF arranged a van for every representative who came to collect the food. Besides, IHF is grateful to all their team members, volunteers and associates who have been working hard since the last two weeks to make this event successful.
